Summary: | Embedded system is one of the most important components in manufacturing system and products. It is typically developed using microprocessor, FPGA, and ASIC hardware platforms, but the common system level design tools that is suitable for manufacturing engineers are still lacking. One the other hand, IEC 61499 is now a
standard for automation but it still does not address the multiple languages requirements for embedded system. The research investigates the concept and tools of IEC 61499 standard and explore the approach to design embedded system for the
manufacturing industry according to this standard. First of all, we review some modem concepts for the system development and the IEC 61499 standard is studied in depth. The basic component is Function Block which is
represented in XML. The concept of XML and XSL is reviewed later. Finally, a embedded system design framework is developed according to the IEC 61499 standard which can convert Function Block to HDL. |
