Summary: | The continuous impact of partial discharge (PD) reduces the lifetime of high voltage (HV) equipment. PD detection is an important means of testing the reliability of HV apparatus such as generators, transformers and cables because PD measurement provides the information on the quality of insulation systems. Locating and classifying partial discharges due to sharp-edges, polluted insulators, loose contacts and many other factors in power systems can significantly reduce the outage time, impending failure, equipment damage and supply interruption. |
