Description
Summary:This study primarily explores the understudied area of stakeholder perspectives in Information and Communication Technologies for Health (ICT4H) Project Implementation. Through in-depth interviews with 22 stakeholders involved with the Aceh Besar midwives with mobile phones project, this study found that project partners communicated on three levels – management, operations and beneficiaries. The Stakeholders Communication Model was offered as a guiding framework to view these interactions. The study found that communications between stakeholders functioned on inter- and intra-stakeholder modes. Six pathways of communication between stakeholders could be mapped and explored along these two modes, each with their own unique set of challenges to project implementers. Through the contribution of a systemic view of stakeholder communications in ICT4H projects, new management insights into the nuances of inter- and intra- stakeholder communication pathways were noted, which will aid ICT4H implementers in formulating and designing more holistic and sustainable projects in the future.
