Summary: | In recent years, the training provision for library technicians in relation to their expanding role has become a subject of interest among management. The aim of this dissertation is to study the in-house training practices provided for library technicians in the public libraries of the National Library Board.
This is achieved via the cretion and implentation of questionnaire survey on in-house training practices. The scope of this survey consists of two areas namely induction training and task oriented skills training provided for Circulation, Reference and Information Technology (IT) services.
Results of the survey show the role of the library technicians has expanded. However, the in-house training provided for Circulaton,Reference and IT services is insufficient thus resulting in library technicians emberking on self-training. There is also evidence of lack of systematic training for Induction. |
