Description
Summary:There has been a vast advancement in collaborative virtual environment over the Internet where people from different geographical areas can meet together and interact with each other in a computer simulated 3D world. Potential applications like e-commerce and distant learning can see promising future in this emerging technology. The development of collaborative virtual environment systems encounter more challenges than other Internet based distributed systems due to the stringent requirement on consistency, reliability, latency and especially scalability. Significant work has to be done to resolve the contradiction between system performance and user number. This dissertation is an examination and investigation into networking issues of Internet based Collaborative Virtual Environment (CVE) systems, in particular, the information transfer models.
