This study hopes to provide an understanding of the factors affecting household's decision on car ownership in Singapore. A binary logit model is constructed to study individual household decision on private car ownership. Data from "The Household Working Trips Survey", which is sponsored by Land Transport Authority, is used to construct this model. The data is also used to study modal choices and other transport issues. The households to be surveyed are randomly picked from a few selected private and public residential estates. Undergraduates carry out the survey as part of their final year project. 646 surveys of the 1260 conducted are deemed suitable for this study after the data management process. Data management involves editing the observations, treating missing data and checking for outliers.
