Summary:Given the continuing social trend of working mothers holding full-time jobs and families becoming 'nuclear' in character, and the support given by the Ministry of Community Development to the development of childcare centres in Singapore, further growth in the number of childcare centres will take place. Although much effort is being applied to improve the quality of services of childcare programmes, very few childcare centres are working hand in hand with the libraries in Singapore to enhance preschool education.
