In this project, the characteristics and working principles of the fluorescent lamps had been reviewed and their driving circuits were studied. Then the lamp was modeled based on a simplified set of physical equations which gave the validity over a wide range of operating frequencies. Its parameters were determined in terms of electrical voltage and current under AC operating at different frequencies. This simple and user-friendly lamp model predicted the lamp’s behaviour without requiring any data from lamp manufacturers. The model was simulated by simulation software such as Matlab Simulink and Power Simulation (PSIM).
