Summary: | Food waste makes up a significant percentage of total waste. Due to the increasing amount of waste generated and the rapid decrease in land space for land-filling and incineration, food waste recycling has become relatively important globally.
The amount of food waste generated is increasing over the years and is estimated to continue to rise. By conducting an exploratory research about the different technologies adopted by different countries and policies and regulations undertaken by them, we hope to increase public awareness with regards to food waste recycling and encourage related businesses to engage in food waste recycling in Singapore.
We also propose recommendations on ways to educate the people to raise public awareness and ways to provide incentives and recognition to raise the levels of food waste recycling. |
