This was a breakthrough in the Chinese theatre industry then as foreign and local theatre specialists were invited to coach the local theatre workers and students. The success of the camps had enabled the flourishing of the Chinese theatre in the 1980s. This thesis examines materials relevant to the Camps in lieu of the social and cultural context of Singapore in the 1980s, thus depicting its origin and how its content and the aid of theatre specialists affect the development of Singapore Chinese theatre thereafter. |
