Description
Summary:This research paper primarily aims to uncover the type of authenticity that today’s postmodern tourist seeks. Based on a case study of Tanglin Village, this paper proposes that today’s postmodern tourist seeks existential authenticity, an increasingly notable, yet relatively under examined trend in the contemporary tourism industry today. A discussion of the Place-making processes that Tanglin Village underwent to facilitate the construction of this experience for its visitors and reasons to account for this change in type of authenticity sought by the postmodern tourist today will also be explored.
