Description
Summary:The synthesis of 11-Methyl-benzo[d]pyreno[4,5-b]furan (BPF) was made possible by the self assembly nanowires via π-π interactions as found in some conjugated organic polymer. The reprecipitaion of BPF yielded nanowires of 150nm to 300nm in diameter and approximately 20μm in length. Characterization of the nanowires was done through SEM, FESEM, XRD, UV-vis and fluorescence spectra. The process yielded a large amount of nanowires, almost all of it with clean and smooth surfaces. Individual strands of nanowires have been found to be homogenous in diameter and also having a highly crystalline structure.
