Summary: | With the rapid advancement of information technology, millions of people from all parts of the world are being inter-connected through the internet globally. Besides conferencing, people begin to see the potential of conducting a business virtually using website, also known as Electronic Commerce (E-commerce). The emersion of Web Product Search Engine serves as a middle platform between the customers and such E-commerce sites by providing them with greater searching ability such as text and visual search.
To allow the interaction between the user queries and back-end servers, a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is crucial for every website. A well-designed and interactive GUI provides an enjoyable searching experience to the user which is a key for retaining customers. With a Web Product Search Engine being proposed, the author shows how a GUI is being implemented with the aim to achieve great user-friendliness with effects and smooth layout using Cascading Style Sheet, JavaScript and Ajax Programming in this project. Moreover, a few different tactics to increase loading time is also being researched.
Every web product search engine requires product databases that are similar to the specific E-commerce website. The information in the databases is retrieved during the crawling process of a Web Crawler. In this project, the author also shows how the previous Amazon Web Crawler can be further improved to increase the reliability and accuracy of the crawled data. |
