Description
Summary:In recent years, immigrants coming to Singapore have proliferated, due to rapid globalization and other factors. As an immigrant from Hong Kong since the year 1997, leaving my birthplace and growing up in a totally new environment has impacted my life and thoughts greatly. My project explores the relationship of immigrants, mostly third culture kids who have been living in Singapore for many years, with their roots intertwined by overseas and local culture. Most of them held on to the status of permanent residence or citizenships, they were photographed in local places that held significance to them. There exist both the differences and similarities within the society that embodies them and the Singaporeans. However, we should not try to emphasize the various aspects of differences we felt from the immigrants but to strike a harmonious chord between them and locals.
