Summary: | Nowadays, the Internet users own multiple accounts on different Social Networking
Sites (SNSs). 90% of Internet users know at least one social network [Brown, 2010].
They are also active in connecting with people in SNS. Facebook statistics shows
that average Facebook user creates 90 pieces of content each month, has 130 friends,
and is connected to 80 community pages, groups and events. Knowing that each
user has great possibility of having more than one accounts, the number of activities
viewable by one person multiplies dramatically. As a result, the Internet users
experience information overload. For the above reasons, there is need of a tool to
integrate and recommend contents relevant to user interest.
In this report, the author describes related works, especially emerging web or
mobile applications that are close to both providing integration social networks and
recommendation of social activities. The author also explains architectures and
technical details on a prototype implementation of such web application, namely
SocConnect Web. Finally, the author concludes with strengths of the implementa-
tion and possible future improvements. |
