Enabling users to annotate tags to images is a crucial feature for social image sharing websites as it provides a way for users to navigate through a potentially vast collection of images. However, for tags to be an effective means of image organization and retrieval, every image needs to be tagged with a sufficient amount of meaningful and relevant tags. Thus image tag recommendation systems, which suggest such tags to users, are often incorporated as an accompanying feature in these websites.
