The overall scope of the project was to develop a web based solution for creating a web photo album and also to develop an android application for android mobile devices to utilize the website’s functions. The SIRE website is written using Django, a Python framework, in a Linux environment and hosted on the Linux platform. Using the website, a registered user is able to create digital photo albums, upload photos and conduct visual searches using these photos against a database. By installing the android application on the user‟s android device, users may login and manage their albums, photos and conduct visual searches using the device. Users are also able conduct a visual search by taking a photo using their android devices.
