Summary: | Seventy percent of the offshore structure to date are fixed structure and are situated along shallow waters. With technological advancement, offshore industries have came out with designs that enable us to venture further into the ocean where there are potential oil fields yet to be uncovered. One of such design is the floating platform that able extraction of crude oil from deep waters. The riser system, which is made of steel, has to withstand hostile condition of the deep sea especially in the touchdown zone. An object which is under constant cyclic loading can fail by fatigue, thus, a fatigue analysis will be done to find out the fatigue life of the SCR at the touchdown zone. |
