Summary: | Since its proposal, the casinos are widely debated on whether it will have adverse effects on Singapore society. This paper aims to address this issue by coming up with a social welfare equation derived from a survey conducted in Singapore. The paper attempts to quantify both tangible and intangible effects of casinos, using a social welfare equation. Data are then substituted into the equations and it was found that there is an increment in social welfare since the implementation of the casinos. In fact the paper concluded that social welfare is increasing at a faster rate after the casinos were opened. |
