Teo Chee Chong School of Civil and Environmental Engineering DRNTU::Engineering::Maritime studies There has been much concern over the impact of logistical activities on the environment in the recent years. Packaging is identified as one of the areas that consumers think will contribute most to damaging the environment. Also, for packaging, the focus has mostly been on creating sustainable consumer packaging but increasingly, the environmental impact of logistical packaging has been gaining recognition from more companies lately. With the importance of sustainability in business operations these days, there is a need to create solutions that encompass the balance of social, economic and environmental objectives, meeting the “triple bottom line” concept mentioned in the literature review section. This report has hence proposed Changing Upstream Packaging Practices and Reverse Logistics to reduce the environmental impact of packaging in logistics operations and the methods will be further discussed in this report.
