Description
Summary:This dissertation begins with a literature survey of the considerations for CVE system, data distribution and related works. A hybrid client-server with peer-to-peer audio/video communication network architecture is then proposed and implemented to address the issue of potential server bottleneck. The proposed architecture solves the Acting Server's potential bottleneck problem for including video/audio communication in CVE systems. Through directly streaming media communication between users, the workload of Acting Server is reduced tremendously. Thus each Acting Server can maintain the static and dynamic data efficiently, handle more simultaneous access to the same virtual environment, and make the system more robust and fault tolerant. It provides a solution to scalability of CVE system that supports audio/video real time communication.
