Description
Summary:To what extent can the creative mind bring about new notions on the urban living environment or cast light upon current circumstances? Ideal Houses is a visual research case study on factors that define a house. This research project looks into how desires for an ideal house can potentially exemplify contemporary housing situations or tell stories about personal and/or collective identities. Participants were asked to suggest, in words and images, an ideal house. Purely imaginative and autonomous, these immaterial domains suggest emotional values and constructional factors that are both current and personal. Ideal Houses presents an edition of symbolic objects under a fictitious architectural studio named CO•OP® that serve to communicate an illusive state of living. The same data is used to construct a system of personal semiotic branding whereby the highly contextual identity is mutable and left open for personalization.
