| Summary: | This thesis examines everyday politics in Singapore that occur in the cyber realm, with the focus on micro-blogging tool, Twitter. Through a thorough analysis of the social dynamics within Twitter, I have attempted to find out the attraction behind Tweeters who tweet about political humour, and how their followers talk about their views on such tweets. It is pertinent to find out if online communities have the power to cause social change with the rise of the influence of social media on politics. In this discourse analysis, I am able to establish understanding of the appeal for faux impersonators on Twitter and discover the changing dynamics of political activism as compared to a pre social media era. |
