Description
Summary:‘Crimson Dismissed’ is a reflection of my state of mind while interacting with mothers who went through unplanned teen pregnancy. In addition, teaming up with an organisation called Babes. An organization that exist for teens not just girls who are undergoing the process of teen pregnancy. Babes prove to be a form of external aid in terms of emotional and mental aspects. In return, they believe that it will help cease the rates of abandoned babies in Singapore. Babes want to help young individuals make responsible decisions during their pregnancy term but claims not to be an organization that is pro-life. Teaming up with Babes helped me to gain a better understanding of how these social workers relate to the different clients and interacting with the mothers on a personal basis and it allowed this project to grow into a deeper emotional level. The objective was to capture the emotions of how the artist felt, a sense of uncertainty and disappointment. The visuals in this project were derived from the metaphor of withering floral and crying birds, which symbolize the harsh reality of their lives. These girls appear to be strong and bold on the outside, a facade hiding inner disappointment. The installation expresses a state of mind that I had while interacting with the girls. In addition, an audio narrative accompanying this experience is a reflection of my response to the research, and acts as a guide for the audience to derive their personal responses to the subject.
