Spycat and the Paper Chase is an animated short film produced by Lim Wei Ren Darren, Derwin Silamaya Suhali, Fung Chun Hong and Soh Yu Xian to fulfil the Final Year Project requirement for the Degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts in Digital Animation. The film introduces audiences to the escapades of Oreo, a housecat who has a double identity as Spycat – secret agent extraordinaire! In Spycat and the Paper Chase, Spycat tracks down Captain Chico, a deranged chihuahua whose latest hare-brained scheme involves robbing the world of every paper product there is. Spycat needs to stop the evil captain, save the world, then return home before his oblivious owner Ashley realises that he has gone missing! This report details the methodologies and thought processes behind Spycat and the Paper Chase, with a focus on the film’s hybrid animation techniques and production design.
