With the advent of globalization, businesses are becoming more global and competitive. They demand a transformation of workplace practices for better productivity and a balanced work-life. Many corporations, like Google, IBM and 3M, have established work-life initiatives to drive achievement of workplace innovation and cultural transformation. In such corporations, flexible work arrangements challenge the way workers think and work. In this paper, it is argued that workplaces have to be equipped with new and adaptable practices to respond rapidly to changing needs of businesses and demands of a new generation of knowledge workers. The workplace culture supports the recruitment and retention of unparalleled talent. It can be shaped into an important and effective business strategy for internal work practice and firm performances. The paper also investigates the current work practices in Singapore and evaluates the work-life balance strategies adopted by some companies. With these, the project devises a creative intervention to encourage healthy work-life practices and suggests creative break time opportunities for flexible personal relaxations within different work environments.
