Description
Summary:‘She said I was just there’ is a project pursuing the niche in taking family portraits. In my portraits of my own family members, I present the unrehearsed life of my family – the niche. What I started out with, was just pictures of my sisters. As I ritually arranged sessions for photo taking, I realized that many of the images that I get are restlessness and annoyance. That is because of who I am behind the camera. I am part of the family. In front of the camera, there is no pretense. No trying to act all smiley for the camera, but the real and upfront emotions that speaks for themselves on their faces. Yet apart from the photographic confrontation with my own family members, is a series of reflective moments caught on camera. These are not the happiest family gatherings photographs that we often choose to take, but the real and un-staged moments that even they, themselves, cannot see... and they can only be seen in a photograph.
