This is true of the way my friends influence me by the permanent marks they leave in my life. It is my desire to turn these intangible marks into visuals to behold, and thus to see more clearly the ways in which my friends shape me. In order to analyze the dynamics of these friendships, I tried various ways of photographing my friends and to translate my thoughts into images. Finally, I employed the method of making scale models out of various materials as a form of processing my thoughts and to transform the abstract workings that underlie friendships into visible realities. All of the images are made in the same prototype box that I constructed to further emphasize the differences they make to the same space. Each one of them is then photographed as a portrait of my friend and me. Hence, each image is a reflection of the increasing awareness of what constitutes the relationships I have with others, as well as the consolations that each friend had given me. On the whole, this project is not a mere reflection of how each friend changed me, but is also a tribute to all of them.
