This leads to reduction in independency due to varies physical restriction, resulting in the increasing demands of the caregiving community. Solutions that help reduce the elderly population’s dependency on external help include modifications of public spaces to cater towards such needs. Yet in many contexts, such public spaces are poorly designed or even unusable. On top of the fact that Singapore is a space constrained nation, there is only that many measures the government can take to enhance public space’s usability.
