Summary: | The morphology of the TiO2 in Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells is critical for high cell performance since electron transport and transfer occurs on TiO2,. As most current research make use of spherical nano-structure, the aim of this project to synthesize high surface area TiO2 morphology which is little studied and its application to DSSC photovoltaic performance. This TiO2 offers less interface for charge transport in the photoanode.
In addition to this study, a number of important parameters including thickness profile, scattering layer and TiCl4 surface treatments are investigated to find out the effect of the different processing conditions on cell performances. These studies resulted in understanding of the factors affecting the device performance and the optimum conditions required. Hence, the final cells were able to reach the possible maximum efficiency.
Other important considerations such as types of Dyes and Electrolytes available in the research laboratory are also taken into account in the cell-making processes and how each affects the cell performances. |
