Hearing the female perspective of the Indian partition.

This paper aims to research how the women in India are represented in the novels on the Partition. In factual papers, it has been apparent that representing the women who lived through the Partition is problematic, and representing them through fiction is as problematic too. A close reading of works by two authors is given and then a study of whether these authors manage to give voice to the women. The paper will argue that they did not, and go on to argue that trying to represent them actually potentially devastates their life further as silence allows them to live on peacefully without having to remember the past.
