Distributed generation is a small-scale power generation technology which may include renewable sources installed close to the load at the distribution voltage level. And the batteries of the plug-in hybrid electric vehicles can be both charged and discharged at home from a standard outlet or a car park. They are both connected to the distribution network and have a great impact on the whole power system. The main objective of this report is to investigate DG, EV, and PHEV’s impact on the power loss and voltage deviation on the distribution network using Matlab programming. In the first part of the report, it illustrates the basic knowledge we need to carry out the study. Then, programs are created to simulate different cases and compare the power flow results. The simulation is based on the IEEE 13-node test system. The power flow analysis programs use the Newton-Raphson method, and a load curve is selected for the case studies and results analysis.
