Description
Summary:Steel catenary risers are a possible solution for future deep and ultra deepwater production. Conversely, the complexity of design and installation is much greater than for flexible riser system. In a harsh environment, extreme and long-term environmental conditions are amongst the most severe, and it posts a more significant challenge when steel catenary is considered, causing the risers to be highly dynamic and fatigue sensitive [1]. The aim of this report is to present the analysis results on the two factors, wave load and seabed-riser interaction, which will affect the fatigue life of steel catenary risers. The project examines the fatigue analysis on different type of wave environmental loading simulation such as under regular wave and random wave. There are also studies on the seabed-riser interaction behavior. These can be done by using an analysis computer programme, OrcaFlex, for riser system. Only effective tension, bending moment, ZZ stress and max penetration are intensely focused here, as they are the predominant influential factors to the riser’s fatigue life. A consistent input on the system programme was adopted to establish an unbiased result.
