Description
Summary:Encryption is used to securely transmit data over an unsecure network. The field of encryption is becoming very important in the present era in which information security of utmost concern. Each different type of multimedia data has its own unique feature of encoding; therefore different types of technique are required to protect the confidential data from unauthorized access. The different types of multimedia data include textual, image and video. Most of the common encryption techniques are mainly used for textual data and cannot be used for multimedia data such as images. In reality, the images to be hidden are color images, while, the current image encryption methods are always focus on gray-scale images or binary images. Thus, it is important to research color image encoding and hiding algorithm. In this report, the various properties use to describe an image will be discussed. These 2 properties are bit depth and resolution. Next, the types of model use to represent the color in an image will be described. The 2 common types of color space that are used are RGB and HSV to describe color. Next, the different type of palette used in an image will be explained. At the end of chapter 2, the report will describe the different type of applications that would be use for the different number of bits in an image.
