This report will focus on the effect of deep excavation on adjacent pile behaviour.Parametric studies using plane strain and three-dimensional finite element analyses programs, PLAXIS 2D and PLAXIS 3D Foundation are carried out to investigate the various aspects that influence the pile responses such as the effect of wall stiffness (flexible, medium and stiff walls), pile diameter (0.6 m and 1 m diameter), distance from pile to the primary wall (1 m and 5 m), and undrained shear strength of the soil which is assumed to increase linearly with depth of excavation. Comparisons between plane strain and three-dimensional finite element analyses results with the varied parameters are also presented in the report.
