Summary: | The Final Year Project, EN78AB was a partnered project with Han Meiqi that dealt with the treatment of synthesized textile wastewater using the secondary treatment activated sludge process. We learnt about the different aspects of textile wastewater treatment in a gradual manner during the project. It lasted for a year from 2010-2011.The experiment started off with a literature review and research on textile wastewater, the activated sludge process and pre-treatment (coagulation). Experimental guidelines and methods were thus decided based on the research.
Textile wastewater was then synthesized using OECD guidelines. The dye used in this experiment was a red dye called Rhodamine-B. Other red dyes, such as Cresol Red, Methyl Red and Cibracon Red were deemed unsuitable for this experiment due to their physical properties. |
