Therefore, numerical analysis is used in this study to provide scientific evidence on rock fragmentation by blasting.When dealing with drill and blast, smooth blasting is the most desired. The reason behind is to achieve desired cracking patterns while minimising overbreak, misfire and remaining rock damage. In previous researches, the delay interval is said to have effects on rock fragmentation. Experts in this area believe that delays in blasting will result in different stress wave interference, which in turn affect rock fragmentation. In this report, arguments on validity of delayed blasting will be discussed.
