Description
Summary:In recent years, advancement in technology has promoted the use of geophysics for site investigations. Surface wave methods are increasingly used in site investigations due to its non-invasiveness.This project focuses on the use of surface wave methods in determination of soil profile. Soil profiles exhibit dispersive properties through variation of surface wave frequencies. Wave source in surface wave tests, comes in two forms – passive and active. The use of active wave methods, such as the likes of Continuous Surface Wave and Spectral Analysis of Surface Wave, predominate the discussions of this project. Through the detection of the variation of frequency of the wave source, the depth of penetration of the surface wave can be adjusted, and the dispersion curve can be obtained. The dispersion curve can be inverted to provide a shear wave velocity or stiffness profile.
