In land-scarce countries such as Singapore, this type of waste management is not sustainable and a viable recycling method to process the MSW incineration bottom ash need to be looked into for beneficial uses.Different pre-treatment methods were available and carbonation was the chosen treatment method and this was performed by placing samples in a CO2 incubator. The different parameters such as the CO2 percentage, temperature of the incubator atmosphere and the moisture content were varied to optimize the carbonation process. The maximum rate of carbonation reaction took place within the first 24 hours.
