Besides being low cost, the other advantages include flexibility and lightweight. Solitons are nonlinear waves that can propagate long distances in dispersive materials. They are viewed importantly in optical fibre communications as they waves can be propagated over long distances without shape distortion. Passively mode-locked soliton fiber laser have also been intensively studied due to them being a low cost source of generating soliton pulses. Semiconductor saturable absorption mirrors (SESAM) are important components widely used to mode-lock a wide range of solid state and fiber lasers. The laser has been further investigated by various experiments. In order to find out the best operation conditions of the laser a wide range of parameters have been tested in the experiment.
