Summary: | In this project, an experimental apparatus is fabricated to study physical gas adsorption between carbon dioxide and carbonaceous adsorbents, for the purpose of artificial carbon dioxide sequestration. The adsorption process is studied at constant temperature to determine its experimental fit with various isotherm models.
The adsorbent materials are characterized using liquid nitrogen adsorption and transmission electron microscopy prior to the experiments, to identify their surface area and pore structures which can be used to predict adsorption capacity, adsorption kinetics, process durability and also further strengthen the basis of the experimental results.
Through the experiments, it can be concluded that the treated Maxsorb-III material provides unusually high CO2 adsorption capacity and produced consistent binding energy with published data. |
