Summary: | Global Positioning System (GPS) has been used to track on many types of animals to study their behaviours and migrations. Varanus Salvator, also known as Water monitor lizard, is a semi-aquatic reptile that yet to have sufficient information reported on their behaviour throughout the day. With a good GPS device, the study of V.Salvator would be possible. Hence tests done on the latest modified GPS device done by Gerald would ensure successful study of V.Salvator with device. The accuracy, signal coverage, condensation in casing and battery life are tests needed to improve on the tracker. Survey of V.Salvator’s distribution in Singapore was done to not just find an area with better Global System for Mobile Communications reception than Sungei Buloh Wetlands Reserve but also in hope to get more information on V.Salvator in Singapore. |
