Description
Summary:Psychoacoustic approaches to improve the perceived sound quality of an audio signal from small loudspeakers proved effective and commercial product have also been realized. This project aims to further enhance the technique, by further improving the perceived sound quality for listeners, and design its practicability with commercial television set. In this project, listening tests were carried out to verify the effectiveness of our psychoacoustic enhancement method. An external analog circuit to allow switching of enhanced bass levels using Rotary Encoder was designed and incorporated with the Texas Instruments VC5509A DSK circuit board. The physical limitations of small loudspeakers were studied through frequency response measurements, and our enhancement method was further improved through the implementation of compressor effects in the processing chain.
