Description
Summary:This report examines the effectiveness of the Bernoulli Cusum chart to detect the shift in the process, and compares it to that of a np chart and a Binomial Cusum Chart. Bernoulli Cusum Chart is somehow similar to the Binomial Cusum Chart, except in the sample size. The np chart is also studied to discover to its effectiveness compared to the Bernoulli Cusum chart. During the course of the project, investigation and studies were done on the 3 control charts. The Bernoulli Cusum chart as well as the np chart and Binomial Cusum chart are designed and the out-of control-Average Time to Signal (ATS) is calculated and validated by simulation. In addition, performance tests were conducted on the 3 control charts. The ATS of the 3 charts were compared by plotting it against the fraction nonconforming p. It was found that the ATS of the Bernoulli Cusum chart are generally lower than that of the np chart and Binomial Cusum chart when the false alarm rate is held at a same level.
