Comparing to the Polarization and Anaglyph 3D display methods, side by side method has both advantages of full color range and no color distortion. However, because the eyes’ crossing is required, people have difficulties to view 3D using the side by side method. Therefore, a side by side stereoscop...

However, because the eyes’ crossing is required, people have difficulties to view 3D using the side by side method. Therefore, a side by side stereoscope is designed to help people to view the side by side 3D images and videos without difficulties. The most important factor in 3D photography is the distance between the two cameras. However, most of the photographers choose the distances based on their experiences and there is no theoretical function to support that. Thus a stereo effect function is deviated to express the relationship among the cameras’ distance and other parameters. As the 3D technology is developing rapidly, the 3D web cameras will become the new trend in the online communication field. Thus a Matlab M-function is designed to process the video inputs from two 2D web cameras and output the processed video in 3D effect.
