Description
Summary:Microcontroller has been a popular option in the embedded system industry due to its high integration, low cost and small size. Microcontrollers exist in common household appliances like the washing machine, refrigerator and microwave oven. Other areas like the automotive industry, sensor and instrumentation industry, automation industry, portable device industry and many more, are examples of industries which heavily involved microcontroller in the system designs. The microcontroller that was being incorporated into the coin counter design was the PIC18F4520. In this project, a coin counter was built from scratch, including the mechanical design and construction of the main structure, software design of the microcontroller and the system integration of all involved elements of the coin counter. Materials used in structure building, choice of electronic components, external circuitry designs, software implementations and testing techniques will be discussed in this report.
