Description
Summary:The main objective of this project aims to determine the nanotoxicity of graphene and graphene oxide particles on Michigan Foundation (MCF) -7 cells. Determine induced toxicity effects of graphene and graphene oxide nanosheets on Michigan Cancer Foundation (MCF) – 7 cells via MTT assay Investigate the relationship between oxidation state of graphene oxide and the induced toxicity levels Investigate if Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) generation in cells is a possible mechanism of toxicity via confocal microscopy The results of this study showed that graphene as well as graphene oxide do affect cell viability and that with increased reduction of graphene oxide, the toxicity effects increased. Confocal microscopy also revealed ROS generation as a possible mechanism of toxicity induced by graphene and graphene oxide.
