Summary: | Ball-end mills can machine sculptured surfaces and are extensively used to fabricate dies for forming, forging and moulding applications. Process modelling of ball-end milling is thus important for optimizing the machining operation, verifying safe operation below certain cutting force limit and avoiding chatter vibrations through analytical prediction of chatter stability lobes. Cutting force model is indeed an important process model which predicts the cutting forces in the three Cartesian directions for given cutting conditions. |
