In order to reduce the energy consumption and carbon emission, the ultimate aim of this project is to study how the solar-driven adsorption cooling system can be eventually replaced the traditional compressor unit to power the air-conditioning system. This project emphasizes on the study of adsorption cooling system design and its internal components involved will be carefully examined to fabricate the prototype. In addition, silicon laboratory‟s C8051F340DK microcontroller is used to enhance the system controller features required in the adsorption cooling system. The programming language used to create the interface is C language through the use of Keil 8051 development tools compiler and the challenge part will be to understand microcontroller internal features and operations. This project will involve both hardware and software components. The hardware design includes like the circuit design and layout of the system controller; and the programming part which comprises the writing of program and the use of compilers for microcontroller. The report will also cover how the different components were integrated together, performance of the system and also the testing activities and future improvements on the system.
