Description
Summary:Oral administration in solid form is one of the most common methods for drug delivery. Thus, drugs delivered in this manner need to have high efficacy in order to obtain good bioavailability within the human body. In pharmaceutical applications, poor water soluble drugs can affect the effectiveness of absorption of drugs by the human body. This poses a problem for users, since less drug are absorbed by the body to combat the ailment. The aim of this study is to formulate nano-drug containing Glybenclamide (GLB), prepared by evaporative precipitation of nanosuspension (EPN) and anti-solvent precipitation technique with the help of syringe pump (SP), indentifying improvement in its solubility and dissolution rate. Nano-drugs are known to achieve improved bioavailability by modification of particles size, shape and morphology. The mean particle size of drugs could be affected by changing various formulation factors/parameters, such as solvent-antisolvent ratio, drug concentration ratio, stirring rate, carriers and surfactants. To determine the characteristics of original and fabricated GLB, several tests were carried out using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), UV spectroscopy, dissolution tester and fourier transform infrared (FT-IR). The characteristics of various formulations were compared to study the differences. Fabrication of nano-drugs can help improve the drug absorption rate by the human body thus less dosage of drug will be required to be taken orally by the patients.
